Tuttuit Program

What is it?

This program’s goal is to support Nurrait's alumni aged more than 16 in their professional development. We focus on their strengths and their enthusiasm, providing them with opportunities for personal and professional development through our internship program.

We provide internship opportunities for alumni as a way for them to apply their skills and knowledge. Tuttuit participants may be called on to shadow a team leader for the duration of the program, or they could be paired with an experienced snowmobile guide to accompany them on all of their outings on the land. Since 2019, Tuttuit participants can also experience an intership on the coordination team.

How

In addition to program activities, participants take part in a series of workshops:

  1. Nurrait team leaders' training; 
  2. Wilderness First Aid training; 
  3. Specific training for Tuttuit participants.

By whom

For whom
Participants are paired with mentors – either team leaders or experienced snowmobile guides - in their respective communities.

For the Ikaartuit program, participants are paired either with leaders or kayak guides, depending on the role they choose. The programs coordinators are there to support all interns and mentors. 
For youth who have demonstrated leadership skills and wish to invest themselves in a professional experience with the organization.

When

Where
This program runs alongside both Nurrait and Ikaartuit programs. Thus, it is held either from August to May or as one intensive month in the Summer.
The program is offered in communities that participate in the other two programs.
